  1. Careful, politics are a no-no here.
  2. I’d find something more interesting to do than fish under these restrictions.
  3. Someone explain this abomination. Are specks trout?
  4. I don't do it, but I've seen it. I had an old Daiwa baitcaster in the late 80s that had a backreeling switch.
  5. No, white bass don't make nests, they spawn in current that scatters the eggs. The second point is not fully correct.
  6. I like 20# on a spinning reel and use it plenty for bass.
  7. Largemouth belong to a group commonly referred to as Black Bass, a group that also includes Smallmouth, Spotted, Kentucky, Shoal, and a seemingly growing list of minor subspecies. Sunfish, Blue Gill, Bream, Black Bass, and another group of fishes called Pygmy Bass all belong to the family Centrarchidae. White bass belong to the Family Moronidae, commonly referred to as Temperate Bass or Sea Bass. One of the three species has misleading common name of White Perch, oddly enough. Funny thing, Up here, a common name for white perch is "Silver Bass." All the previous groups are in a larger grouping of Perciformes, or perch-like fish. A largemouth bass is most certainly a "bass." Calling largemouth bass a sunfish would be like calling a lemur an ape.
  8. Better to be craw-craw than cray-cray!
  9. Are crayfish really cray?
  10. You’re right, the 150 is the max hp.
  11. That sounds underpowered, but they are good hulls.
  12. I like a PB&J just about any time of day, anywhere. Pretty sure the bass feel the same.
  13. Depends on the water. In many, it is. In others, it's just ferret a with fins. But seriously, I was thinking more about catch and release for fish like pike and musky. Take one big one out, and ten little ones fill that spot. Takes years to get that one big one back, if ever.
  14. Marker buoy pattern is easier to follow than bent rod pattern
  15. Most aren't hunting apex predators, though.
  16. There's a joke here about denial. Google stock is going south
  17. I generally spend more time fishing than I do looking for places to fish when I'm on the water. If you are looking for places to fish, then SI is a big advantage, especially if much of the bottom is undocumented or unfamiliar.
  18. Basically, side imaging works when there’s water to the side of you, lol. I just don’t use it when I’m fishing. In a kayak, you have to be moving. You can’t sweep your trolling motor head to peek under a dock or overhang without moving the boat like you can with a bass boat. When I’m on a spot, it’s almost always either DI/chirp or chirp and with the RTS enabled. Off shore it’s often chirp and GPS. If I’m moving, SI is always on, usually with DI as well.
  19. How does tungsten help with bite detection?
  20. All but one, Caddo. Though technically, there probably hundreds of oxbow lakes that are natural too. None travel south here.
  21. I'd like to know how someone would determine that the painted jig you were using is lead. I mean, you can draw a quick conclusion if you are familiar with jigs, but I'm talking gathering evidence of a crime. You would have to ruin the jig or weight in order to get a sample and run a test on it. I'm not handing over five pounds of $6 jigs to be ruined just to prove I was using tungsten. I think what ever well intentions were behind the law, ended up being implemented by misguided people not familiar with actual lures. It would have been much more effective to simply ban the sale of lead.
  22. True, but this will be the baby’s nephew. My kids’ age span over 20 years.
  23. Put some rod holders on this bad boy!
  24. If there's time to let it dry completely. It works best that way.
