  1. I guess that depends on who's at the wheel, and what you're driving. Just because I think a manual transmission is better in a sports car doesn't mean I want one in my truck.
  2. My favorite is a Sammy 115 that’s missing an eye. Most of the finish is worn off, but it was Aurora Black. My second favorite is a Popmax. The Python finish has held up better than the Sammy.
  3. Remember “fightin’ drags” ?
  4. I keep mine right next to my Flo-bee.
  5. Having the last word is also a sign of control issues.
  6. Do you think tournament purses are what is driving the pro fishing industry? I’m seeing a shift in that traditional model. It’s already happened in other individual “sports” like skateboarding. They’re creating a persona in order to sell goods. It’s less about tournament success anymore. That’s a separate topic, though.
  7. Why aren’t people that don’t do this losing fish then? I think pros sometimes do it to create drama for the camera.
  8. The Helicopter lure does catch fish. If it get someone into fishing that otherwise would not even try, then I hold no resentment for his endorsement. They aren’t trying to sell it to us anyway.
  9. I just need back reelers to admit it isn’t an advantage and really about control issues ?
  10. You are talking about resistance. That’s different. There is nothing preventing a spool spinning as fast as the rotor.
  11. Don’t look her in the eye!
  12. There is less drag resistance when a fish is close to the boat.
  13. The rotor and the spool both can spin at the same rate. The spool has lower mass, so technically it is the cheetah.
  14. Lying doesn't serve their best interests. I take the hype with a grain of salt.

My PB SM is 5-12, and I would agree, 6 is that magic number.
  16. Honestly, even the cheeziest marketing has promoted products that still work. The message may be suspect, but the products generally are rooted in something that works. Cases in point, fluorocarbon lines, braid, scented plastics, hooks with funky points, Flying Lures, Helicopter lure, Dancin' Eel, Banjo Minnows, Winn Grips, Hypalon, Septon, Carbon Fiber this and thats, High Modulus, IM6, IM8, colored rods, E-glass, Boron, split grips, guides made of rare materials, long cast spools, wide spools, T-wings, UV coatings, and lastly, to quote KVD, "An erratic motion bass can't ignore!" None of these are rip-offs. I'm not even gonna comment on heavy cover fishing. It isn't for the faint, but it works.
  17. How is back reeling faster than drag?
  18. You might have luck creating the hollow claws, and welding them to a body using heat.
  19. Over the years, Rebel Deep Wee-R, 7" Powerworm, 5" Slugg-o, 5" Senko, Spinnerbait, Popmax, Rage Craw, and jigs have consistently outfished all other baits I've tried. I don't really fish the first three anymore, and I'd wager to bet that one of the reasons I doid so well with them is that I fished them almost exclusively back on the the late 80s and early 90s. In the case of the Rebel, that's especially true. These days, I'm a little more diverse.

  21. Hang in there. Keep doing good things.
  22. Has BASS had an Elite event in RI ever?
  23. I bet Siebert Outdoors can make you a bunch of skirts that match.
  24. 10mm bead pegged 1/2” above a #10 hook. I used a 13’ centrepin rig with 8# mono main and shot line, and 4# Seaguar Leader. Judging by the flow behind me, I’d say I was using a 6-8g Raven float.
  25. The forum has a search feature that will show some really good topics recently posted regarding back reeling.
