  1. Not if you use a floating worm and a stand up jig. I do have a problem with a shakey head falling over, but they're not meant to stand up.
  2. "Shakey Heads" have departed a long way from the original technique, which was a basically a jig worm, the only difference being the longer shank and heavier gauge hook for weedless rigging. It allowed you to shake just the head of the worm, hence the name. Like almost all other jig based finesse techniques, it turned into stand up rigging. *See also Ned rig, Sliders, Spot Removers, etc. I don't know what, but the stand up jig has never been given a cool name, and always becomes a trait of another rig.
  3. I saw them for the first time this past December. Almost bought one, but she who must be obeyed vetoed it, since I rarely drink anymore. I love that the year is on it.
  4. This is the only champagne I know
  5. I use 15# Invisx, so I'm sure what you have will work fine.
  6. In NY, there are special regulations: https://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/31419.html Since catch and release is legal, paper tournaments are fine. There is a trophy limit of one fish over 20" starting December 1 through the Friday preceding the third Saturday in June, when bass season officially opens. This was to allow for trophy tournaments in the time period you mention.
  7. I like to leave the door ajar, and see who walks right in.
  8. I've run a few Mokens in 12, 12.5, and the old 13 without the wheel. They seem wobbly, but you have to tilt them to one side or another before it locks in. If you've been in a canoe, you'll know what I mean.
  9. Raising my hand for how many rods. What were you thinking? ?
  10. My arm is tired. I love this clip.
  11. Put a mug of water in the nuke for 1 minute, and dip the bent bait in it for about the same time. That usually fixes them.
  12. It smells bad, which is good. Though how it smells to us matters little. Megastrike is an amino acid based scent and lube that stays where you put it. Fish can't detect oil based scents. I have a half dozen tubes around at all times, since partners usually end up taking it, lol. A dab will do ya!
  13. This. Also good for styling your hair. I even brush my teeth with it instead of toothpaste.
  14. Anything that is oil based is a waste of time. You want amino acids. That's what fish can smell. Otherwise, you are just using scented lube.
  15. I use them to throw others off the scent. ?
  16. Deflection is usually the key to getting bit with almost all baits, moving or not.
  17. This. In a time when payouts were MUCH less than they are today with NO GUARANTEES.
  18. This is almost always some sort of user error. I don't see anything unique to that reel that would contribute to the problem, and it is likely you will continue to get it with other reels. We have a few articles that might help: https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/spinning-reel-tangles.html https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/line-twist-spinning-reel.html
  19. No referral partnership with them through Amazon.
  20. Powerbait Trout Dough on a universal rig for pellet fed stickies. Once they've acclimated, other baits are on the table, but the dough is similar to what they're already used to eating.
  21. Blanking in a club tournament on Oneida Lake after spending almost every weekend there for two months was rough. What made it rougher, was the winning weight was almost 20 lbs. of green fish. I took second the next two years with brown fish, so I'm not sure I learned my lesson.
  22. The "big motor" is an 8 hp Tohatsu. These aren't big money deals, but turnout can be high. Usually $100/team. Pretty sure he's a trout and salmon guide and in summer, that work is non existent. He's a genuinely nice guy, but it's fun to use him as an example in these threads. Here he is taking our money:
  23. This is the most powerful spinning rod I use for bass. I have a couple 9' moderate to slow taper rods that are for king salmon, but have never used them for bass fishing. https://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/pinnacle-DHC5-performa-review.html
  24. He doesn't even have a trolling motor, lol. Spends most of the day in reverse, standing in the stern, with his foot on the tiller.
  25. Buy more CI4+, but get the 3000 with a deeper spool.
