  1. As a sporting goods retailer of graphite (carbon fiber) hard goods, and often on the other side of the counter, I'll stay out of this one. I think many folks are under the impression that a limited lifetime warranty means the item will be replaced no matter what for all eternity at no cost, and it's that expectation that causes the, let's just say "interesting interactions."...
  2. Kate Upton leaves baseball husband and shacks up with The Reason, "Do Not Disturb" sign hanging for weeks.... There, it's true....
  3. Hey, all you guys that know, think or "researched" who made/makes H2O lures, I have two questions, What shape is the Earth? Wanna buy a bridge?... Where do you guys get this?
  4. #thenextsears
  5. I tie knotted tapered leaders with XL or AN40, sometimes I even mix the two in one leader, so I don't know how to answer your question, line is line...
  6. trolling dd22 with braid and mono leader back 125 feet with a clip on the transom touches 24 feet. It's how we get striped bass when we need a couple of quick ones for dinner.
  7. Mailing paper catalogs almost a quarter of the way into the 21st century is what really doesn't seem right.
  8. If the water is 45ish or so with a rising temp trend, I'll throw a finnesse spinnerbait, crankbait, and chatter first to gauge their activity level and how they are relating to cover or structure before going to more traditional cold water baits which will include finnesse jigs, lipless, jerkbaits and blade baits depending on the temperature and conditions.
  9. I know of 2 versions. The original one you posted is the one I like. Matzuo (in addition to making some really crappy lures) will change baits around nilliy willy like that. I have one of their discontinued JBs that kills late winter/early spring for me, and I'm down to 2. Pickerel fishing got good this week, and should only get better in the next weeks.
  10. I've never carolina rigged a hollow body frog, but I'm sure that it would work under the right conditions. I do C-rig toads sometimes. My favorite carolina rig baits sink ever so slowly, where they almost suspend. If they are bitting one that plops down quicker, I'm probably throwing a jig or something else.
  11. WTG on getting your popper back! I seldom fish 4 lb test, even for crappie and trout, it's plenty strong enough even for bass, but any little nick will cause a weak spot which will cause lost fish and lures. I have a couple of ml rods with 10/10 braid to mono that work well for a wide range of smallish lures, and holds up well in cover.
  12. Did you know that Thousand Island dressing became famous and got it's name when it was brought back to NYC from upstate by the guy that ran the Waldorf Astoria? Learned a little something in between catching smallies, can't wait to get back up there.
  13. You guys are destroying the stereo type with these epicurean suggestions. You are making me hungry. Nice! OP, Just keep fishing and enjoy it, and don't pay attention to what anyone here or anywhere else says or thinks. I'll fish with ya, and cheese steak sandwiches and tomato pies are alright by me....
  14. Ditto. Some really good advise I got when young: Statistically, of people you meet, 25% of folks are going to like you for the right reasons, 25% are going to like you for the wrong reasons, 25% are going to dislike you for the wrong reasons, And 25% are going to dislike you for the right reasons, If you're going to worry about what people think, just worry about the last 25%...
  15. Oh yeah, there is only two ways that can go, and one is a train wreck for sure. I have a couple of stories guaranteed to make you fall off your stool laughing, but I can't tell them here....
  16. He got his panties in a wad cause the guy that doesn't fish the way YouBoob® says you should schooled him in a puddle using the wrong hook for the "technique", it's all there, (and he's from Philly), but yeah, I bet just like when one is the designated driver on an epic bar hop, that would be entertaining to watch.
  17. I sometimes use mono leaders on braid for various reasons. Because of line visibility isn't one of them.
  18. Were I ever to cast an umbrella, and the object was to keep the weight down in order to work it shallow, I'd use plain hooks instead of jigheads. And if I was really feeling jiggy (ha,ha), Id use one jighead on the bottom arm.
  19. Cabela's has some nice fly outfits in that range, and they go on sale during the year making them an even better deal. Spend more on the rod than the reel, and DO NOT skimp on the line(s). BPS also has some nice fly sticks. I like a rod that's not too fast in the 5-6 range for what you are describing.
  20. Yeah, neoprene booties are zip up ankle high with rubber soles. I use them to wade in board shorts in FL and other warm spots too. TT = Testicular Thermometer. I usually only wade thigh high in the winter with the boys above the water line.
  21. Tell me about it, if I get home invaded by 11 guys I'm in trouble...
  22. No, it's intended to reduce invasive goop from being transported around.
  23. Speaking of which, the cheddar and cheese curds up in 1000 Islands were very good, the local wines, not so much...
  24. get some Gamakatsu round bends, they weigh the same and aren't made of al dente capellini like the VMCs. I seldom change hooks on most lures out of the package, as most suggest here, but these are absolute a$$, they bend or break with minimal force.
