  1. It won't let me log in from my Ipad if I don't allow cookies and let it know where I am.
  2. There are marketing and logistic reasons for not labeling weight, but the real reason is manufacturing tolerances. No 2 rods are going to weigh the same, so most won't actually weigh the label, so now customers have a rod that either fatigues LMB anglers prematurely (apparently that's not that hard to do) or one which failed prematurely because of lack of material while in Mr curls' guns...
  3. I like Gammi round bend on JBs and triple grips or short shank trebles on CBs. I usually leave the stock hooks on most lures until they need changing, except the really horrible ones.
  4. I will knot be doing that...
  5. I'm going to make an effort to spend more time up there in that transition period early and late in the season. I really like it up there, just wish the winters weren't so cold, I'd get a place up there.
  6. Month Low High Jan 35.5°F 57.6°F Feb 38.6°F 62.4°F Historical averages for Montgomery. What you call winter, I call spring and fall, so yeah, I enjoy it. You haven't enjoyed winter fishing, until you've done it in Costa Rica, burrrrrrrrr!
  7. I'm not exactly sure what you are asking, but I will say that I don't fish square bills and lipless cranks with a typical cranking rod. Particularly around grass I prefer a faster crisper rod, which I fish with 12-15 lb mono. For actual cranking in say 8-20 ft +, I'll use a medium or medium heavy cranking rod with a moderate, even slow taper.
  8. You know this is a LMB fishing site, yes? ...
  9. You must be over 40, that's not the new paradigm. Duct tape your smart phone to a snorkel mask and put it on and walk around flailing your arms until you knock yourself silly by walking into a wall, and then it will make sense...
  10. Ah, an oldie but a baddy, but fun to watch for a young J Lo, and Jon Voight's accent which is different (but equally bad) in every scene. Now Congo on the other hand, no tomatoes... x whatever we are up to for turtle.
  11. Yes, but not in the States.
  12. Most rod line ratings are based on mono. snapping the pole requires exceeding the blanks strength, either through high sticking, or excessive force, or both. Heavier line in and of itself won't cause the rod to snap, but can be a contributing factor.
  13. I know it took one guy to get the whole casting umbrellas thing going, so maybe we get one of the pros to start carrying a red light. I'd rather forget my surf bag than my red light when hitting the rocks at night.
  14. So then why put up with the inferior KVD body?
  15. All you need is a little garlic butter, and some chopped fresh herbs... Nice pictures.
  16. You know you can change or replace the "legs" right? You can even get creative and put something other than skirt material in there. A trick worm is a royal pain to get in there, but worth the trouble...
  17. x3 on the gimmicky thing, I'm sure they would work, but I don't see the sense in dressing up a frog as something else, and like someone mentioned above, the KVD frog isn't all that to begin with.
  18. All my Lucky Craft salt water minnow baits are floaters or sinkers. I would imagine one that suspends in salt water could be adjusted to suspend in fresh water by changing out the hardware (assuming it actually suspends in the salt to begin with). There aren't a whole lot of suspending salt water baits out there.
  19. Sorry I didn't post this earlier guys, the new girlfriend is insatiable.... So Academy contacted all the Major brands that manufacture their baits and had them produce an emergency run of all their best ones due to the furor here, and had Santa make a special early run to deliver them, and now there are 54 H2O baits shown on Academy's website. So all is well with the (flat) World...
  20. So it actually makes sense to keep braking them and getting them replaced to dollar cost average them, eventually the 1st one will have an adjusted cost very close to the replacement cost of $100? check my math...
  21. Sometimes, but not often. I started fishing jigs with spinning because I only owned one rod and it was spinning. For really small ones, swimming, or when I'm pike fishing I'll usually use one. It's also natural for me as a surf caster, we throw 3/4-4 oz bucktails on spinning all the time, and yes, The handle is on the left side unlike my BCs....
  22. NO!, this is a different affliction. The Monkey frowns upon selling stuff, and doesn't really relish trading or bartering either. What you have is a condition common in the American male sporting goods consumer, there is no cure, but in most it eventually runs it's course. What may relieve symptoms is to actually participate in the sport.
  23. Normally, I'll use a Medium rod up to a 1/4 oz jigs, 1/4 I'll go either way depending on what I'm doing. 3/8 and up MH all day long.
  24. I don't know, saw Urkel working out with Canelo...
  25. Tinsel adorned double bladed inline spinner, but who's counting. Just thinking about a 2 oz spinnerbait hurts my arm. Some guys built these monster spinnerbaits about 6 oz to troll for stripers a while back, didn't last...
