  1. While playing my flute and without ripping the rice paper. I remember really looking forward to the next episode as a kid, a week seemed like an eternity then, now a year is like a flash.
  2. The trick is figuring out if you really want it, or if you just think you want it grasshopper.
  3. Couldn't agree more. My fishing style is I'm going to do whatever it takes to catch fish. Everything else just evolved into place with time.
  4. And take your Tatsu and PopMax with you...
  5. Cork is very (like very) light.
  6. A lot of guys like to collect high end tackle, and there is certainly nothing wrong with that. The sad part, and you see it here as well as other places is where folks with little or no experience buy into the "you have to have high end gear or you won't catch fish" mentality. On the other hand, you do want to stay away from the really cheap stuff. The 3rd or 4th item in a line usually offers the best bang for the buck.
  7. Yes.
  8. Yes and no. I don't think larger baits catch bigger fish as much as they deter smaller ones, so it will appear that they do, or you will actually catch the bigger fish by not being interrupted or distracted by the smaller ones, but that is the exception, cause except for some specific times and conditions, most don't trget a hodge podge of fish swimming together like in a fishing video game. Of course there are times when fish both big and small will key in on bigger baits, and that is relative, so that's the yes part. AND there are times when fish key on smaller baits, so there is that.
  9. I like to have a mostly vertical presentation, but yoyoing it back near the bottom on a cast can work. Don't forget, cold water bass will often be bunched together, and can be seen on the FF so there shouldn't be much if any searching with the bait. Also I have a self imposed 6 shakes with lipless and blade baits, often more is a turn off for them. When the water gets really cold, I'll favor the blade over the lipless.
  10. Very good big bass ability, but not so good water burning ability....
  11. I just put together a box for a Navy buddy just getting started as a Xmas present, It looks a lot like this. These or similar lures from other makers should be a good place to start. The important not sexy stuff: Worm weights in 3 sizes (1/8, 3/16, 5/16) Bobber stoppers Round bend offset worm hooks in sizes 1/0, 2/0, 3/0 EWG hooks in sizes 3/0, 4/0, 5/0 Jig heads in 1/8, 1/4 oz The work horses: 2 Spinnerbaits, 3/16 SK, 3/8 Booyah 1/4 oz buzzbait, Ford Model A color. #3 Mepps Aglia 2 1/4 oz swim jigs 3/8 chatterbait Bandit 100 CC Super Spot KVD 1.5 shallow or Baby 1 Minus #10 HJ Booyah popper, what ever they are calling the Zell one these days. The plastics: Trick worms Ultra vibe craws Fat Albert grubs Senko knock off, (I like the BPS, YUM, and the one with the tiki guy on the pkg). Straight tail/Fluke type thing, BA, Sluggo, Caffeine shad or the like. 3 1/2" paddle tail Nah, forget all that, maybe just a 3700 full of WPs...
  12. My best tip for catching big fish in northern states (and I assume it works in Canada too eh?) is to fish a lot during the pre spawn.
  13. Where will you be fishing? The list will vary depending on where and how you will be fishing. There are some staples for sure, but I'm not bringing the same boxes to Mexico than I would to 1000 Islands.
  14. Old timers that showed me that called it scrubbing, The trick is to just let it be. Not too different than ned.
  15. Fuego/Fury is a lot of bang for the $. I picked up a few for Xmas for $130 per combo with the deals. I'd go with the 704 if you are only doing just one, will cover 90% of baits.
  16. Guys who would rather play with tackle than go fishing for $600...
  17. As long as a double scotch is still 2 oz, I'll take your word for it...
  18. 90º jig head. What do I win?
  19. Yes, but only because some plastics are meant to imitate baitfish and others crawfish or sunfish, and also because similar colors that might work equally well, and I find somewhere for little or no $, and I'm color blind, so I'm never really sure what color I'm fishing, luckily the fish don't care.
  20. Yeah, now if you only stopped talking about cold water winter fishing, we might be fishing buddies... Sorry about that Saints thing, I would be fit to be tied if that was my team. That non-call was total BS.
  21. Lipless were not on a cold water lure list? That's just silliness.
  22. In really cold water my best baits are blade bait, jerkbait, marabou/feather jig. If those don't work it's live bait, if that doesn't work it's hot chocolate and a movie. Once h2o temp gets into the 40s a lipless, crank, plastic or spinnerbait might get the nod at times.
  23. Yes, it can make a difference, but often because LMB guys put the carriage before the horse. Find the lure for the job, then pick the line, rod and reel that best deliver that lure to the target. It weighs what it weighs.
  24. Yeah, that information is out there, but I am not aware of any one angler who has compiled it that way in that detail. Is this just a research curiosity thing? Or do you think this will serve as some sort of road map? Cause it won't.
