  1. There are good quality snap swivels that won't open. That being said I only use them rarely on some spinners and spoons and mostly for pike and pickerel. Unless it's a newer Norman® no swivel required for crankbaits.
  2. I used to wear a TDF best climber polka dot cycling jersey on our hilliest training rides, of course back then I weighed 140 lbs and could actually back it up, Now I'm looking for a Subway® or Krispy Kreme® jersey. Why do Masons and Shriners wear B A S S jerseys?
  3. Ask the same question about screwdrivers, and then write a 200 word essay on why the question doesn't make sense without knowing what the responders are screwing, and more importantly what YOU will be screwing.
  4. Worst lubricants ever.
  5. I have a great poker face, but the Admiral is a Wicklander-Zulawski certified trained interrogator with 20 years of experience. I just cross my arms, look down and say in my best James Cagney "you'll get nothing out of me copper" The FedEx and UPS guys don't help any.
  6. Shhhhh. We've put 3 kids trough college and have one more to go (Not to mention the house in Costa Rica) Don't listen to this guy, a more expensive bike WILL make you faster (and the envy of your lycra laden friends) ps: I ride an aluminum cyclocross with Tiagra (no discs), and I don't feel like the bike is a disadvantage against top end road bikes on group rides. Of course I don't tell people that on the sales floor.
  7. Agreed, I just think we have different definitions of taking care of it.
  8. Yeah, but you only get one body, you get as much tackle as you want and can afford. I don't purposely abuse gear, but neither Am I going to worry about wear and tear or baby it. In my mind and the way I fish, if a reel lasts 3 to 5 seasons and a rod gets damaged or breaks every so often, that's just par for the course, but to each his own.
  9. It depends on the conditions and the size and type of splash. Most of the time a more subtle entry is desired, but there are times when a louder approach will trigger interest. I think a mostly vertical grenade going off on impact is seldom a good idea though. I have started skipping baits in open water, and at times it makes a big difference.
  10. Dawn of the Dead Sticking...
  11. To me, If I can fish a frog with a trailer hook, I shouldn't be fishing a frog, so I don't use them. If forced to choose I'd go for a single.
  12. There is a website dedicated to striped bass fishing?!... I knew my advanced Tic Tac Toe strategies podcast was a good idea...
  13. Yes. A drop shot is nothing more than a dropper or 3 way rig with the weighted lure replaced by a sinker. I use a teaser (plastic or feather) with a spoon or topwater sometimes. Striped bass are the dumbest thing that swims, but they do at times keenly key on tide (current) and bait size to the exclusion of other things though.
  14. Not sure, It was late spring, I want to say maybe 3:30-5:00 PM, I could be off somewhat.
  15. If you make me buy a spool and it sucks, I'm coming after you. Better how?
  16. A lot of walleye rods make better drop shot rods than some drop shot rods. To the OP's question, I use whatever rod does the job. Sometimes it's a crappie rod or a #6 fly rod, and sometimes it's a 9 ft surf rod. That being said, most of the time I'm using fairly standard bass gear.
  17. Is it the altitude? It's gotta be the altitude....
  18. N= Never not on sale... F=Freshwater, The second S is for Secret (as in stop talking about it) They spell it out for most of them on the packing slip. I too have one of their cranks, that flat out crushes, it's the ***** one.
  19. Check out most of the ones labeled fast, more than a few are mod or mod/fast.
  20. How long are your rifles?
  21. So we are looking for something like the Truman Show for one of the Bass pros? Those Scott Martin early morning videos are entertaining, but not sure it will help anyone's fishing, at least it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who can't function before caffeine.
  22. Keep the rod. If you are going to be throwing 10XDs on a regular basis (no one does) then as someone mentioned, you are going to need a dedicated rod for that and other similarly large lures. I use my striped bass rods for that type of lures, and they work great, but I don't do it often, too much work for little fish.
