  1. I drink one. It's definitely an old school brand. Been around since 1892. Perhaps you're heard of it. It's called Maxwell House. A-Jay

  2. Hmm, claiming someone is stupid just because they own rods for one thing?? I'd have a heck of a time flipping weeds with my cranking rod, or lobbing an A rig/swimbait with my jerkbait rod. If you can get by with 1 rod for everything, good for you, but I hardly think it makes someone "stupid" just because they own specialized setups.

  3. Don't listen to these naysayers, there are plenty of ways to guarantee a limit every time you go out: Fish the Bass Pro Shops aquarium. Loaded with fish, easy to find them and you always have access to any equipment or lure that you want; Use an electro shocker like the biologists do. When you catch a bass, don't unhook him. Bring him in the boat, release him, let him swim away & then reel him in again. Do this 5 times and you have your limit. Learn how to scuba dive & get proficient with a spear gun. Never leave the lake until you have caught your limit. If this means staying in your boat for 8 days in order to catch 5 fish, have at it - that is the price of success.

  4. Have you ever heard of Jim Nabors (aka Gomer Pyle)? Ever heard him sing? He did a darn good job belting out the tune "The Impossible Dream". My advice would be to lower your sights or learn to repeat the name of that song over and over again. Let's be honest here. Not even the best liar in the world can actually catch a limit every day or on every lake. Spend your time learning different lakes, different tactics/baits, keep good records, and set goals for improvement based on your experience. If you ever get to the point that you think you can always get that limit, give me a call and I can take you to a few lakes to ruin that record! By the way, welcome to Bass Resource.

  5. Catching limits is not about which rod, reel, line. It's ALL about locating the bass. Study as much as you can about bass seasonal movements then spend LOTS of time on the water hunting them. There are no shortcuts...just lots of time on the water.

  6. A man and woman were married for many years. Whenever there was a confrontation, yelling could be heard deep into the night. The old man would shout, "When I die, I will dig my way up and out of the grave and come back and haunt you for the rest of your life!" Neighbors feared him. The old man liked the fact that he was feared. Then one evening, he died when he was 98. After the burial, her neighbors, concerned for her safety, asked, "Aren't you afraid that he may indeed be able to dig his way out of the grave and haunt you for the rest of your life?" (HERE IT COMES!!!) The wife said, "Let him dig. I had him buried upside down, and I know he won't ask for directions."

  8. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ The answer to "How to catch a limit" is seriously multifaceted and really can not be answered here in a reasonably sized response. You will have to be much more specific with your questions to get some usable information. And I hope you will as the membership here is loaded with skill & experience and are very willing to share it. Just need to narrow down your requests a little. A-Jay

  9. Hi, uh my grandpa has always been a fisherman, he got me started when I was very young. Now his wife is gone he's 88 and he does nothing but sit around the house and sleep/watch tv. Its so difficult finding a place where he can safely make it to the water and actually catch bass. Wishing I had a bass boat but does anyone have any thoughts or ideas on how to make him happy with fishing.. Any answers will be appreciated thanks, Jonathan

  10. This is a follow up to the Mr Clean thread http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/150787-mr-clean-magic-eraser-cleaned-cork-examples/ I Cleaned, Filled, and Cork Sealed most of my rods. I wanted to post them all at once but have been too busy. For those of you interested what U40 Cork Sealant looks like on cork I have examples. Start off with dirty, several years of grime: Cleaned and filled: Cork Sealer Applied: Finished look: Now the coloration of the cork appears a shade darker with the Sealer applied, Some instances you can barely tell like this one, others I've done have gotten a little bit more darker. Here's an Avid that got even darker, this is Cleaned: This is Sealed:

  13. Lews guy will recommend a Lews, Shimano guy a Shimano, Revo guy a Revo, Daiwa guy a Daiwa. I haven't met a reel yet I didn't like to some extent. Picking the best would only prove it best in my opinion. I have several that are the best.....at the time I am using them. That includes all of the previously mentioned brands and some others as well.

  14. There are two ways to win an argument…but neither works. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you think there’s good in everybody, you haven’t met everybody --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To select ‘Yes’ – Press ANY key | To select ‘No’ – Press any other key -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way you’ll be a mile away, and you’ll have their shoes too. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When a man talks dirty to a woman, it’s ‘sexual harassment’ When a woman talks dirty to a man, it’s “$3 Per Minute” ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you lend someone $5 and never see that person again, you got your money’s worth. 15. Hey everyone. I had some time off work starting on the 11th and I was praying we would have ice by then. I wouldnt want to spend a week off sitting at home or fishing perch. Timing worked out perfectly and I was able to get out on the bay for my first vacation day. I spent 4 days on the ice this week with Callum from Happy Go Fishing and got into some good fish each day. The size that these lakers are growing to out there is incredible. I really do expect to see some high 20's caught this season. I'd love to see someone break 30. Each day was different, so I landed fish on a variety of baits. Swimbaits, tubes, crankbaits and an Imperium Ace did the majority of the damage. There were some spoon and jigging rap fish in the mix as well. The first couple days, the fish were relating to the bottom, so the bottom 20 feet was most productive. The last couple days out, they were mostly mid column fish. Always experiment and don't rely on a single go to lure. That will help you ice more fish. Lots of smaller fish this week too, but here's some of our better ones. I don't keep em too often, but one day we kept a limit of our smaller fish for the smoker. Can't wait to munch em. Thanks for reading. Happy Fishing!

  22. I don't want anything really new, but have always wanted a fishing caddy, Much like a gillie in England. The caddy will be stationed in the back of the boat. If I bust off a jig, I could say, "how bout tying on a 3/4 football, green pumpkin and purple please, trim the weed guard a bit, and let's try it on the heavy Powell with 17 fluoro, I'll just munch on this sandwich and stare at the graph for awhile". Oh yeah, I want to hire one of the Tackle Tour models for my caddy.

  24. From a mechanical standpoint I have to agree. The $150 price point is VERY competitive. Each design has pluses and minuses but it will come down to preference and the available deal at the end of the day.

  25. All of them in between 100-200. All of them have their advantages and disadvantages, it's all preference. So you can fill in the blank there. IMO all the reels in this range are solid quality period.

His obvious enthusiasm for it cracks me up every time and like most things that a toddler does for entertainment, it only entertains him for a few minutes, then it's on to the next thing! I'd much rather listen to him playing his drums than listen to another episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

  29. I sweat all night long night fishing in Kansas. We get the best of both worlds, sub zero temps in the winter, and triple digits with near 100% humidity in the summer time. Plenty of nights I'm out it never drops below 90 with so much humidity that everything in the boat is soaked by morning.

  31. Success builds confidence, but rare is the day that I would hang my hat on color. Lure color is the caboose in my train of thought. A change in lure depth would be first, lure speed and cadence would be next, then a change in lure type. That failing, the Talon is lifted and we're off to the next waypoint. Color gets very little love on our boat Roger

  37. Brent you are right that any system will only support a biomass dependent on many factors. You are also right that selective harvest can be a valuable method of keeping a system in balance. Where you are wrong in my opinion and Mb 1984's (our resident expert) among others, is how that selective harvest is managed. Eat a bunch of the 12" fish and leave those big ones time to grow!

  46. I had a friend whose children were not vaccinated for anything. His wife was/is a vegan. One of those obnoxious types who can't wait to tell you what an evil bastage you are for eating meat. she believed a meat free diet would put her kids in harmony with nature and render vaccination unnecessary. I said I HAD a friend. He stopped considering me a friend after I told him his wife was a %@#^ing moron who should be chained up and not allowed out into the real world. I also offered to take him to a local clinic for vaccinations for his kids. All he had to do was find his testicles, get his kids, and get in the car.

  47. A man in the Safeway Store in Texas tries to buy half a head of lettuce. The very young produce assistant tells him that they sell only whole heads of lettuce. The man persists and asks to see the manager. The boy says he'll ask his manager about it. Walking into the back room, the boy said to his manager, ' Some SOB wants to buy half a head of lettuce.' As he finished his sentence, he turned to find the man standing right behind him, so he added, 'And this gentleman has kindly offered to buy the other half.' The manager approved the deal, and the man went on his way. Later the manager said to the boy, 'I was impressed with the way you got yourself out of that situation earlier. We like people who think on their feet here. Where are you from, son?' 'Canada, sir,' the boy replied. 'Well, why did you leave Canada?' the manager asked. The boy said, 'Sir, there's nothing but whores and hockey players up there.' 'Really?' said the manager. 'My wife is from Canada.' 'No sh*#t?' replied the boy. 'Who'd she play for?'
