  1. That will work, and if the knot is tied correctly it should not be slipping in the first place.

  5. Nice catching. Not to taint your opinion, but wild fish, or ones that have been in the river/strem a long time, seem to tast better to me than stockers. Stockers always tast grainy! Jeff

  6. The "overflow" will creat a circuit between the battery cells or posts and cause it to discharge. Take a straw, dip it into the cell, put you finger on the end to hold the fluid in the straw, and remove the straw to dispose of the excess. Do that until the level is at the indicater in the cell. Clean up the spilled fluid so the battery is dry. Rinse the caps with water and shake out the excess so they can "breathe". Keep plently of water nearby to dilute what you spill. Wearing rubber gloves is a good idea when handling battery acid. If you have one, a battery hydrometer can be used for the fluid extraction instead of the straw. 7. That is not true a bit, not all ponds are the same as some call 60 acres a pond while others call a mud hole a pond. Also the jigs aren't a good pond bait doesn't hold water, you just haven't used the right jig, now if you say a 3/4oz flipping style jig isn't a good pond bait, I'd still hesitate but I would tend to agree with you for the most part but if you match the size of the jig to the cover and the size of the fish, then it can be very effective. As I said before, my grandson is learning and I got him on the small finesse type jig to the point he is good with it and we started off in ponds and then moved to larger bodies of water so jigs certainly can be great pond baits as long as you use the right jig.

  8. I don't get the purpose myself. If the proper knot is tied on the proper line, slipping should never be an issue. If it is, then you need to learn a new knot .

  9. It was a long time ago, but I'm pretty sure I caught my first largemouth on one of those early, pre-rigged rubber worms. It was orange, rigged with two or three weedless hooks, and had a couple of beads and a small propeller on the front. I was about nine or ten at the time and that lure is long gone! I remember being very surprised when the fish hit it because, up until then, the only times I had tried using a rubber worm, I had threaded a small piece of one onto a size 2 Eagle Claw snelled hook and dead-sticked it, just like I did with real worms. Darn things didn't work well at all! :-) Tight lines, Bob

  19. The sad part of uneducated consumers buying chinese is the fact that they, the chinese are destroying a huge portion of asia's environment while they make their profit. Our business had to leave our country to avoid stricter environmental laws among other reasons. Now we simply manufacture the stuff elsewhere and destroy the earth there. Thousands of miles of Siberian and middle asian rivers and lakes ranging almost to Iraq have become void saltin seas from run off directed there from china.

  22. Lost it years ago. A orange Rooster Tail. I put it my pocket one day when I was about ten y/o. I had to cut it out with scissors which left a hole in my shorts pocket. I forgot about the hole and put a $10 bill in the pocket to ride rides at the fair. Needless to say, I lost the $10. Lures have been costing me money every since, lol. I think the Rooster Tail ended up in my pond.

  26. Ned Rig flat out catches fish. You can use a weedless jighead, and some do, but part of the philosophy behind the presentation is to bypass obvious bass cover that most all other anglers fish, and instead focus on open "nothing looking" water that others bypass, as well as fishing rocky banks and edges of sparser weed growth. Open hook jigheads work fine in those areas. For more specifics on "how," check out Ned's page (Midwest Finesse) over at In-Fisherman, or some of the many videos now out there on YouTube. -T9

  29. First bass was on a bobber and night crawler. My first after I started using artificial lures was on a black and blue jig and yes, I still have it. Only been 5 years though so it's easy to keep track.

  31. If you want to experience reels truly different from Lews/ABU look at some Daiwa, Shimano or Quantum models. Maybe a Pinnacle. Everything else is pretty much based off one of the other platforms.

  32. I have a bad habit When the creek beside my home floods I can not resist the urge to toss in a bait and let it float away half a spool or more I don't know why Every time I lose it I've lost 6 baits this year but I keep doing it And every time I tell myself how stupid I am Over and over

  33. I would start with making a day box with just a few things. A few hooks, weights, jig heads. Maybe a few crankbaits and spinnerbaits. Put them all in a plano box and stick it in a backpack. Then take along a few plastics. Switch it up at times. If you dont have a whole lot with you, you are forced to use what you have, which will help you develop your skills and confidence with certain lures.

  34. The most recent was when I was trying to lob a drop shot rig up against a retaining wall that juts out a little into the lake (part of a green belt area). I was so focused on the cast that I forgot about the huge oak tree on said greenbelt that hangs over the retaining wall. I made a horrible cast and the rig ended up in the tree, about 25 feet in the air. Irritated with myself, I gave the line a quick rip and snapped my rod in half. Now I'm really ticked off, I grab the spool of the reel (to eliminate the drag system) pull down & away from me so I don't fire the weight into my head. Instead, the branch breaks & falls on me. Leaves all over me & the boat, I just started laughing...

  38. Far as weight is concerned, it's the price you pay for more durability with flexcoat. I personally don't care if a rod weighs .2oz more (conjecture) for more protection, especially since I'm very hard on my rods. Rather have a knick in some clear coat than on the blank.

  44. Choose the colors YOU LIKE, actually in low visibility conditions colors matter very little, bass do not need to see the bait in order to strike it.
