  1. Well ok , buy one pack, trig a soft plastic and go throw it in a rocky area, then when you FEEL the difference you can decide if the expense is worth it. For me, it is.

  2. I do not carry a scale but I'm pretty sure she weighed more than one pound and less than ten!

  3. . I have talked with the people at IGFA in Dania Beach headquarters of IGFA . I was told they certify spring scales more readily per scale tested for IGFA certification than they do digital scales. I was told that the scales that receive the highest rate of certification per scale tested by them are Boga spring scales. I was told that the most frequent digital scale approved was the Salter Brecknell digital scale. My reason for asking was to be able to carry a scale with me that had the most reasonable opportunity to be certified for a world record line class record. I personally carry a 15 lb Boga spring scale & a Salter Brecknell digital scale which weighs to the nearest 1/2 ounce for accuracy. If you want to get a scale certified by IGFA for a one year period for trips or other purposes the aforementioned scales are the easiest to get certified the first time through. I was told that some scales make take numerous entries before they can find one scale to certify.

  5. Might check your line roller bearing as well. If it's seized up, it can twist up your line something nasty.

  6. The line numbers on reels are more about line capacity than actual recommendations or limits on lb test.

  7. Bingo. It's one of the cheapest upgrades you can do and makes one of the best improvements. A few bucks and makes the reel quite a bit smoother compared to bushings.

  8. Select your soft plastic rod to match the cover or structure, the line strength, weight size and hook wire dia/ size. If you are using 12-15 lb line, fishing light to moderate cover, with 3/16-1/2 oz weight and standard worm hooks 3/0-4/0, a 3 to 4 power (MH), fast action, 7' jig/worm rod should work....your basic bass rod.Don't under power weedless rigged soft plastic, you will miss too many hook sets. 9. My only advice, no matter what kind of digital scale you have, is to find a place on your boat for a decent mechanical scale as a backup if the digital scale fails, or to confirm what your digital scale is telling you if the weight on the digital scale doesn't seem right. Trust me; a 15 lb. (in most parts of the country) spring scale tucked in the corner will eventually be worth the investment if you are a bass fisherman.

  10. I don't buy them for any sensitivity purposes, because quite frankly IMHO it's not much of a factor. I buy them because of their size. A 1oz. tungsten is quite a bit smaller than a hunk of 1oz. lead.

  11. Not fishing related. I didnt ask for anything fishing related I'm actually trying to downsize my plastics. Because i went through and realized how many unopen bags i still had from 10 years ago lol. So here it is my other passion. Smoking meat.

  14. What? Just because your digital scale reads out to three decimal places doesn't mean it is anywhere close to accurate when I plop a fish on it. If it has no bias and has been certified/calibrated against known weights then it would likely be so versus a mechanical scale, but that is an assumption until proven otherwise. For example, If your digital scale with 3 places after the decimal point always reads a quarter pound light/heavy (for whatever reason), then my certified mechanical scale, accurate to just single ounces, will always be more accurate. Reword to "potentially more accurate" and I'll buy that statement. Don't confuse accuracy with precision. -T9

  23. You are very very wrong, a scale that reads to the grams would be more precise than a scale that reads in the ounces not necessarily more accurate. Look up the definition of precise and accurate and reevaluate what you just said.

I got 3 ZooX swimjigs, a H20 hard shad swimbait, a Reaction Strike Revolution Frog, a Kinami lipless crank, a XCalibur XW6 wake bait, a Sebile ACast Minnow and a pack of Rage Tail Anacondas. I will try to get a pic up tomorrow. Thanks Derrick, I really appreciate it!

  26. You are less limited then you think. In many cases you have better position than a boater. The advantage a boater has it that they can get from spot to spot faster which allows them to cover way more water.

  27. If the scale doesnt give you an exact weight to the ounce is it not the inaccurate one? digital luggage scales are acurate to the gram, ounce, kilogram, or lb i want an Exact weight when i land a trophy fish 2 oz is a difference between 9.8 and a 10 lber

  30. Ems will ship 2 piece rods that are sectioned in the middle. Shipping is cheap and there's no customs fees. FedEx and UPS are used with one piece rods and shipping is between 80-100 and they will collect a customs fee which I think is based on the declared value. I found this out when I bought a Poison Adrena BFS.

  34. Deep, not only are angles important but the number of casts is equally important. I see so many guys, including myself, throw once or twice to a target from two angles as you float by in the boat. Your post highlights the need for us to take our time with each target and hit it many times from different angles. Thanks for bringing this up as a reminder to all.

  37. I think wind and current will make the biggest difference. Bass will hanging out on the down wind/down current side of the structure waiting for bait fish and food to swim by with the current to ambush their pray. If you throw out with the wind, then retrieve against it you may get a nice long cast, but that presentation is going to look unnatural to the fish. Bait fish generally don't swim into current/wind. If you cast into the wind and retrieve or let it drift into the brush pile with the current you'll have much more success.

  42. It's according to how you like to fish. If you like fishing banks with spinnerbaits, senkos, ect, I would say spend some time up around blue lake and San Patricio. If you like fishing offshore grass (which is what I'd do) spend time in housen.

  47. I have both and use both. My opinion would be go with the 784ML... it is a awesome jig rod. I have thrown anywhere from 1/4 oz jigs+trailer to 1/2 jigs+trailer... I throw flutter spoons on it too. In fact I have even thrown spinnerbaits. It is really one of my favorites in the line, and one of Dobyns best sellers. The extra lenght is nice, and I am looking for a reason to use it when I can. the tip on the 784ML will be faster than the 744. for your intended use and preferences I go with the 784ML without a doubt.
