  1. Man these are some good jigs, I have been tearing bass up on them lately.... Went out today and caught a bunch of good bass and jackfish on them! Will definitely be buying more jigs from seibert when I get the chance.

  5. Yes. It's a heavy cover jig, aka flipping jig. You can swim it. If you're good, you can skip it.

  8. Hi Salenity and I fished one of the power plant lakes last Friday. Rained on us most of the day but other than that it wasn't bad until the wind started to blow the last hour we were there. Caught fish on a little bit of everything but I really put the Pinnacle Optimus/Perfecta combo through a workout Dragging a homemade swinging football head through the rocks with either a Netbait B Bug or Zman Palmetto Bug caught a lot of our fish. I started with a S Waver and moved a ton of fish right off the bat, but had a lot of swings and misses, couple on a fluke too. I got tired of missing fish so I picked up the Optimus/Perfecta with a 1/4oz swinging football head and started wearing them out. Once he tied on one of my swinging football heads, Curt was quickly to a big fish, but it turned out to be the wrong kind. but he righted the ship quickly and really started to put the hurt on them towards the end. Great day on the water and I'm really, really liking this Pinnacle combo

  11. Flippin jig. The Booyah jigs w/eyes would truly be considered swim jigs.. But the flipping style 'arkie' jig is versatile and can be used for a variety of techniques.

  12. I've tried both over many decades of hard use with braid & leaders. The main drawback to the double uni knot is bulk. This bulk seems to "click" through the guides on the cast & retrieve. This "clicking" equates to wear, reduced casting distance and less joint strength - in my opinion. Some of my fishing friends do use double uni successfully however, so it may just be a matter of preference and confidence, more than actual joint strength. In any case I prefer the Alberto. Less bulk, creating a more streamlined knot, which actually isn't a knot at all, but rather a braid. Sort of like the old Chinese handcuffs, or finger cuffs, that you use to get as a prize in Crackerjack boxes. I've never had a failure with a properly tied Alberto. And in the TV series entitled, "Knot Wars" a few years back, the Alberto had superior static knot strength over the double uni. These were under very controlled conditions however and the difference between them was less significant. I don't believe that you can go wrong with either, provided you take the time to tie them correctly. And if you intend to stay with the double uni, I'd advise you to re-tie more often than you think you might need to.

  15. Me and Peter made it to LaCygne Sunday. We made it to the outlet before first light. It was slow going for awhile before I got my FIRST EVER double. Once I figured out how to use my snagging spoon it was on!!! I bet I snagged close to 20? 12" shad! You'd be amazed how hard a snagged shad will pull! After that we followed the birds around and started hammering Whites and Wipers including several doubles including this one. Peter stuck this GREAT 6# LM I'm not great at remembering how many we caught but Petef figured 40-50 Whites/Wipers

  25. colorado blades = more vibration and lift willow leaf blades = less lift, more flash indiana blades = even amount of flash, vibration, and lift gold blades = best in stained water silver blades = best in clear water chartruse/colored blades = best in murky water the sliver blades in clear water have a bright white flash to them, bass love that. the gold blades flash in stained water can help the bait stand out and provides just enough contrast between the water color and blade. chartruse/colored blades are good when you dont need a lot of flash but want the bait to stand out in murky water. also willow leaf blades come through weeds better than colorado, agin indiana blades are somewhere between the two.

  26. Auggie based on that pic its hard to really say. At least for me. You are big guy so that can change how the fish looks compared if i held it. I am 6ft tall 195lbs. If you asked me if the fish looks like a 10.5lb fish i will say no. But its a big nice fish nonetheless. Speedbead has the best signature, it reads the scale never lies. Invest in a scale so when you come across a beautiful catch like the one you caught you have a precise measurement vs that of a formula. Many swear by them. But seeing your catch on the scale will confirm it. Congrats again on a great catch. WTG!!

  27. Good points. I actually planned on getting a Shimano (Chronarch E, Curado E, Curado I, Scorpion) with a Hawgtech handle, tension knob, and drag star with bearing upgrades if I sold my Team Lite. I plan on doing a full cleaning of my Team Lite. I know Lew's puts a lot of grease in their reels. I'm going to fish some more with my Team Lite before I come to a conclusion whether to trade it off for a Shimano or not. Really the point of this topic was to see if anyone had used both $180-$250 Lew's and Shimano and to get their opinion,

  28. It could be argued there were bad calls on both sides of the ball. But it all evened out. BTW, the Eagles only had 4 penalties. Hawks had 8......Homer. Seahawks Eagles Penalties (Number-Yards) 8 - 67 4 - 69

  29. ^^ I was watching the game as well and it was not a clean game at all. Lots of penalties on both teams. Saw the same two plays not get called on seattle, but I also saw a pass interference on the eagles that didnt get called, which is surprising, cuz their DB's were all over seattle's receivers and most of the time they get em on that. One thing that shocked me was that Russel Wilson threw an intentional grounding and it WAS CALLED. I swear when I watch the seahawks russel wilson when he is under pressure will 1-3 times per game throw an intentional grounding and it will not get called. Yeah he runs 15 yards backwards but he is STILL IN THE POCKET. Between the tackles, and the ball lands before it reaches the line of scrimmage, doesn't matter how far he runs back that is an intentional grounding and it should be called.

  31. #4 and see what they can do against Bamasux. I need to see the final four. LSU takes on Notre Dame in the Music City Bowl which should be a good game. Both schools got screwed by Gunner Kiel.

  32. No experience with the rods mentioned, but just FYI if you decide in the next couple of days, you can go to Gander Mountain and get $50 off purchases of $250 or more, and another $50 rebate from St. Croix. $150 brand spanking new ain't bad for one of those.

  33. Lure speed is determined by the bass. Years ago my son was bored and casting a old style Bomber that is a floater diver. He made a cast and retrieved it so slow the nose of the plug was waking on the surface and bass killed it. The bite had stopped mid day, I was getting our lunch out of the cooler and started catching bass with this sloooow retrieve. Tom

  34. Well... yes and no... with a crankbait you really probably can crank it to slow. It at least takes some speed to allow it to dive and wobble. Basically if you crank it too slowly it will look like the ugly hunk of plastic that it is. Now I'm sure somebody's going to say "I was killing them the other day on a crankbait moving at 1" every 10 seconds" or whatever, and while that may be true for the most part yes you can fish a crankbait too slowly. Now I think that jigs and plastics are another story. Dead sticking is actually a really productive technique at times, and you're not even moving it. A lot of old guys like to "stitch" worms, where you move the line with your free hand. If you're doing it right some cast can actually take up to 10 minutes. Now there are days when you can absolutely fish too slowly. Some days the fish only want to eat something that they have to chase. It really just depends on what the fish are doing.

  35. Man o man lol Once ya go LTB it is tough to go back lol Being that you already have a MXF i would go with the 6'10 MLXF...that way way you can go more finesse should you want to

  36. The free spool time isn't close to that of Curados/ Chronarchs. Lew's reels come with a lot of grease, which is a hassle to clean off. The actually reeling itself is smooth, but I'd like a bit more free spool time. Also, id rather have that connected feeling in the reeling process.

  40. Two years I found that same motor for a friend of mine, in a 1986 model that was like brand new, for $500. It had not been run in 15 years and the original prop that came on it barely had a few scratches on it. I rebuilt the carb and fuel pump, replaced the fuel lines and water pump impeller because it had not been run in so long, and it was like a new motor when I finished. There is no way on gods green earth I would even pay half what you say he wants. $600 was more than a fair offer and if he was not willing to negotiate on that offer, you did the right thing in walking away from it.

  42. Your title says it all. Unfortunately Monacan H.S. became so laser focused on attempting to block, that they failed to remember the basic rules of the game. I am sure the Coach was going ape s?>@ !! If he was celebrating with them then you know where the problem is. When I coached high school i always told my players, the fundamentals can/will win or lose you a game.
