  1. That's when it's time to break out my patented "Around the World" cast Usually after my bait whizzes by someones ear a time or two they get the message. I also like to move to the spot they just left and catch a fish, that'll really make some people mad. This spring I was catching trout one after the other in a small pocket on a little lake when I saw a father and two young boys walking along the bank. I yelled for them to set up their lawn chairs by me and directed them to the exact location they needed to cast their baits. Moved my boat to play blocker from some other guys that were coming to barge in on the kids fun. My catching pretty much stopped but I had way more fun watching his kids fighting trout as fast as they could get a line in the water than I was having catching them myself. I don't mind sharing a good spot sometimes, but it helps a lot when someone asks nicely before they elbow into my personal space.

  2. It's funny that you simply assume that I blow money on a ton of tackle. My fishing budget was after getting my family gifts and basics, diapers clothes etc, and a couple nice things for the old lady. So quick to judge yet sooooooo far from reality. Sometimes it's better to stay silent and let us think you're a fool than to speak and remove all doubt

  3. Just got an update from the family, surgery went well, and for now it looks like he is keeping his left leg. That's all I know for now. Keep the positive thoughts rolling.

  4. Fished a C&R artificial only stream today, I landed my biggest rainbow to date @ 20.5" and almost 4lbs. Absolutely a gorgeous trout, probably one of the prettiest fish I have ever landed. The pictures are good but the coloration of this fish in person was amazing. I doubt it was a wild fish but I assume it had been in the creek for quite some time and was in good condition.

  6. Rod I built for myself on a Rainshadow Eternity2 blank. Paired it with a Steez. It's nice!

  9. Btw, Thanks to everyone for there thoughts and well-wishes. Just having Bass Resource to look in on during the day takes a little of the gloom away. I sure wish someone would start an argument about the best $100 rod soon, I need the entertainment LOL.

  10. Got the brand new Carbonlite yesterday in 7.1. Took it out today on my 7' m/f veritas and threw a LC Pointer on it. What a blast! Match made in heaven! The carbonlite fits my hand perfectly, casts well and feels solid on the retrieve. Only caught one Dink this morning, but making cast after cast was a breeze because this rig is LIGHT! Just. ....wow! It threw the Pointer like there was no tomorrow. It took me a second to figure out the dual brake system. ...and its strange ( to me) dial set up, but it was pretty much set and forget and I was throwing into a stiff wind in no time. Pretty happy with my purchase...this is my first carbonlite. I got it at black Friday price with a free shirt. Shirt is awesome as well. EDIT: tried to post a pic but I just can't get that option to work anymore. It looks sooooooo sweet on my veritas- white on white!

  11. Caught some good bass today on a red lipless crank, probably the last bass I'm gonna catch for a few weeks because of wrestling. Sucks because I'm just starting to figure the bass out, been catching lots lately on lipless and swim jigs! This was the last bass of the day...

  13. I always wanted to be in the military. Joined the coast guard because I liked their peace time missions. Loved it, well not always, but the experience gained there opened many doors for me in the civilian world. I have lived a blessed life primarily doing what I wanted when I wanted. Don't chase money, do what u love, miserable job equals miserable life.

  14. More often than not it's as simple as find the shad, the Wipers won't be far behind. When the water is warm, the shad start busting the surface and the Wipers do too in a massive feeding frenzy. Sometimes you can literally catch them on anything, but obviously shad imitators are the winner. All of my biggest have come from Clinton the past two years. These guys have them dialed at Olathe and Wyandotte. Lone Star even has a few too, I forgot to post this report back in early September. My buddy Austin caught this 5 pounder with me in 3 feet of water way back in the main cove on a spook. First Wiper I've ever seen from Lone Star.

  15. There is no such thing as a good $100 rod. You don't even get into good rods until you have spent at least $300. How's that farmer. If that don't get an argument started, nothing will.....lol. Hootie

  18. One time I was catching some crappies that were schooled up, I was using a 1/32oz jighead with a 1" curly tail and catching them on every cast, this lady who had been standing 50 yards away comes and stands about a foot away from me, without saying a word, and starts tossing a 3" curly tail on a 1/4oz jighead and is confused as to why she couldn't catch anything, I moved down the bank a bit and found more fish, she came over and did the same thing but this time asked what I was using. I told her exactly what I had but I guess it didn't really "click". I put about 10 crappies on her stringer and she headed home. Gotta kill them with kindness

  21. Shimano Cardiff 300A is a very popular and functional reel with swimbait anglers, around $100. The new Calcutta 300D sit higher on the rod, excellent reel, better bearings stronger frame, however doesn't cast swimbaits any better then the Cardiff. What rod do you plan to use? Tom

  22. Won my first Non-US fishing tournament last week. Fished an open the hotel we were staying at had in Jamaica. Caught 23 "Jamaican black bass" (What the guy from the hotel called them, they looked like dark colored goggle-eyes to me) in 30 minutes for the win. Allen

  26. A typical annual cleaning would include complete disassembly, inspection, repair /replacement of any necessary parts. While disassembled all bearings would be properly flushed and checked for serviceability. Once everything is clean and determined to be serviceable you would properly oil and grease all parts as necessary and reassemble.

  27. I was on a much smaller budget this year but I was determined to get a combo for throwing 10XDs. I picked up an Abu Orra winch and a 13 7'11 Crankinstein rod for$230 and saved big. Now I'm ready to roll and have a rod that matches my username!

  29. The drag is not tight enough probably. When putting reels back together you can hold the level wind so you can tighten up the drag without it fully assembled.

  30. I personally would not throw a 3/8 oz bottom contact bait with a 3 power Dobyns. 3/8 oz weight plus a bait seems to overpower those 3 power Dobyns IMO. To me a 3 power Dobyns is more suited for more finesse baits (1/4 oz like you stated) or moving baits maxing at 3/8 oz spinnerbaits or chatterbaits.

  40. Nails. Kitchen drawer slider came loose so I am putting it back together and went to Lowe's and picked up a package of one and quarter inch nails which proved to be too short. l also got six large, heavy nails to hold down the plywood Christmas deer we put in the back yard for the grandkids. Have to go back to Lowe's today as I need one and a half to two inch nails to finish the job. Oh, fishing stuff? Sorry, but I got nothing. Will wait for the big BPS sale in early 2015 to nail some great bargains.

  42. Do they not share the record in some sort of technical way? Too few ounces between them I believe. My original point being that I prefer the romantic skew of the original Perry record and ignore the freakish hand feed transplanted gene pool slugs coming from places out of their natural original range.
