  5. A man received the following text from his neighbour: I am so sorry mate. I've been riddled with guilt and I have to confess. I have been helping myself to your wife, day and night when you're not around, in fact more than you. I do not get it at home, but that's no excuse. I can no longer live with the guilt and I hope you will accept my sincerest apology with my promise that it won't, ever happen again. The man, anguished and betrayed, went into his bedroom, grabbed his gun, and without a word, shot his wife and killed her. A few moments later, a second text came in: Bloody autospell! I meant "wifi, not "wife

  8. Yesterday, I was crappie (I know, it's a bass forum but this isn't about the fish) fishing. I was using a Bill Lewis Tiny trap. The hooks are only about an inch apart. Caught a 12" fish and reached for the fish to unhook it. It flipped just right and sunk a hook into my right thumb burying the hook past the barb. Now, the fish is flopping around hanging on my thumb. I grabbed for the fish and got hooked again, this time in the middle finger of my left hand, also sinking the hook in past the barb. Now, my hands are hooked together with (by this time the fish has grown in size exponentially) a monster fish hanging from my hooked digits. If I could have gotten to my wire cutters, they wouldn't have done me much good. I don't remember how I got that fish and lure braced just right but I finally ripped the one hook backwards out of my thumb. Then I could get to the pliers. I couldn't get the hook out of my finger until I unhooked the fish and then I could pull the hook out of my finger. I do carry bacitracin salve and band aids on the boat, so a little first aid and back to fishing. Yes, my tetanus shop is current. Guess what, it hurts to type.

  10. Well almost.. 4 and a half pound 20" donkey kong jr.. he needs food ..badly.. at this time of year he should be heading over 5 The weathers getting cold and I broke out my bigger baits for this season. Donkey Kong (its bigger brother) nailed my 8" swimbait previously and based on the pressure on my swimbait rod it was bigger than this one but the bigger brother was able to use the weight of my swimbait to toss the lure.. kudos to that guy but I wouldve liked very much to land him. However, minutes later felt a light thump and fish on.. as you can see fellow Joisee fishermen, our bass will inhale bigger swimbaits as well as this near 8" bait is barely peeking out of its mouth having inhaled all of it..

  11. Boats are great. I have a couple and love them both. When I bought my first boat I began to learn the depth of the addicition of fishing. Every year it's gotten worse. Now my stock of plastics take up my entire master bedroom closet, I've got new rods I've never fished and find new tackle in the garage I dont remember buying. My wife crys when I spool my reels, the dog doesn't know who I am. Enjoy, take the wife or SO if you can, finda balance between fishing and everything else.

  14. Saturday I fished the Lake Quivira fishing club tournament with my buddy Tony. It's a good group of fishermen who all live on the lake which gives them a pretty big advantage. Being an Elite Series pro who lives on the lake probably gives you an even bigger advantage though! When I saw on FB that Brent Chapman was planning on fishing it with his son I knew it was going to be a serious uphill battle. I formulated a game plan the night before that we were going to go up the canals and risk getting way fewer bites in hopes that they would be the right ones. I missed 3 fish and was not having a good start when Tony set the hook on his jig and immediately one of the biggest bass I've seen out there in a long time was on the surface. Grab the net and scooped her up. 19" and 3.52 pounds was the start of our 11lb 1oz limit. I thought we probably finished in the money but couldn't believe when I heard we'd actually won the thing! Not only first place, but Tony's fish was good for big bass as well. He fished one of my home made finesse jigs in black/ gold flake with a Okeechobee craw colored YUM craw papi while I alternated between a home made sapphire blue 1/2oz brush jig with a black and blue Zman Batwingz trailer and a home made black on black bladed jig with a sapphire blue pit boss as a trailer. Getting the win was awesome, catching them all on my baits made it that much better I got to talk to Brent quite a bit afterwords and he was super nice as he is every time I've gotten to chat with him, congratulated us on our win and fielded everyone's questions afterwords. I'm sure if we tried 99 more times he'd get the best of us, but just once we got to say that we got the best of the former AOY and Elite Series angler on his home lake

  15. The one with a Shimano badge on the side. Sorry. Couldn't help myself. My Lews experience is limited to the Tournament Pro. I like it the little I've used it. A grandson started using it shortly after I got it, and considers it his now.

  16. I would limit myself to force myself to get really good at understanding the in-depth intricacies of one type of lure. I wonder if when people say "what about when the lure isn't working" how much of it is actually the lure and not the person using the lure.

  19. Very common. Lures don't fool fish most of the time. They have to do something special at just the right time. Splashdown can offer a suite of "special" -attractors and triggers: -The splashdown itself can be attractive to bass. This is the main reason it's suggested you wait for a bit before starting your retrieve with topwaters, waiting for the fish to get there. -The water's surface is an "ambush point", in two respects: it obscures your lure just enough that they don't get to see what's "wrong" with it. Secondly, and this is in operation with topwaters and when you are taking your bait out of the water (like for another cast) -it looks like the bait is about to escape. -Bass can see surprisingly well above the water. When they are aggressive, they can be attracted to the speed of a lure zipping through the air. They may chase it to the splashdown area, then smack it. -Bass LOVE falling baits. It's a trigger. Works beneath the water too. Pull the bait up, and then let it fall.

  20. Before my wife and I got married she promised me that if the Royals ever made it to the World Series that we would go. Keep in mind I am only 29 and the Royals were in the middle of losing 100 games per season for the 5th straight year. Tonight she and I will make good on that promise and attend an event I truly never thought possible. Not only will we cheer for the Royals, but all the Royals fans who have been stuck in the drought of Desi Releford, Jose Lima, Mark Redman, Ken Harvey, Matt Stairs, and Tony Pena Jr. I know that I am truly a blessed man to have married such a wonderful woman!

  22. It won't make any difference in bottom coverage, just some cloudy returns near the SI view centerline. If you pass by the path of an outboard, it will record the water that the prop disturbed. It will look like a long cloud at the distance you are from that prop path.

  23. Yep, but slow rolling a single colorado blade is a classic winter/deep water spinnerbait technique. Try it out this winter!

  25. The few things I have learned after 60+ years of bass is not to force feed bass lures I like to fish. KVD made his name using Nichols spinnerbaits, covering water making hundreds of casts and it for him. Spinnerbaits don't work for me very often, unless the bass are very active eating baitfish near cover edges. The reason being my style of fishing is slower and deep structure where the classic tandem spinnerbait doesn't work well. Good luck! Tom

  26. cool idea. I usually use a jig, spinner bait or square bill. trifecta for me. as people are saying its a handicap for using one lure for a year... I see it as trying to master a technique.

  27. Ah, but each season brings different conditions and fish behavior so you have to go a year to get the comprehensiveness of the self-training this is designed to produce.

  37. Does that mean that you cut off the stock hook and have a treble hook attached to the eye with 65 lb. braid? If so, that could be a problem, and you might consider doing it over with wire. Oh, and don't forget to look at the camera and say, "This is the way you do it, doctor, IF you rig it MY way!"

What it says is, " also allows economists to compare two or more years because prices are the same (inflation has been removed) see what industry is growing /decreasing, shows true growth". 40. The best leader I have found are Stealth Fluorocarbon Leaders. The won't kink and I have yet to have one fail or a fish break me off with his teeth while using one. one 130# and up would work.

  41. I've caught 11 muskies in my fishing career (closest muskie lake is 3 hours from here). Of those, 1 was caught actually fishing for them. The rest were all fishing for bass with mono, fluoro, or braid with no leader. If you're actually going to target them, by all means go with a leader, but not using one isn't a complete death wish like I'd always heard. I use the Terminator titanium leaders, regular steel leaders kink easily and become worthless.

  43. I have fished my whole life, and the one tip I would give is not to make it too complicated!! A baitcaster, a spinning rod, and a couple of Plano stowaways have caught 99 percent of the bass I've landed. Don't waste a ton of money on stuff you don't need. I have WAY too much stuff myself!!

  44. I live west of Fort Lauderdale, 5 miles from the everglades. The best fishing all year is Jan, Feb, March with 100 to 200 fish a day a real possibility. Temps in the high 60's and 70's and no humidity. So bring on winter, we love it down here!!!!
