  1. Hey all. Wanted to drop an update on this. I emailed Strike King last week and told them what happened to the lure. I came home today and had 2 boxes from Strike King at my door. They sent me 3 green gizzard shad, 3 sexy shad, 2 gizzard shad and 2 chartreuse sexy shad lures (all KVD 1.5 Square Bills) and a Strike King hat!

  2. Had my Dad fly in from Orlando over the weekend. My son and I took him out for a SMB trip to Melvern Lake KS. We caught over 100 fish in 1.5 days all on the ned rig. 1/8oz ned head zman PB&J 2 inch senko w/super glue, used 25+ of them! Here are a few pics of the larger ones.

  3. Before my wife and I got married she promised me that if the Royals ever made it to the World Series that we would go. Keep in mind I am only 29 and the Royals were in the middle of losing 100 games per season for the 5th straight year. Tonight she and I will make good on that promise and attend an event I truly never thought possible. Not only will we cheer for the Royals, but all the Royals fans who have been stuck in the drought of Desi Releford, Jose Lima, Mark Redman, Ken Harvey, Matt Stairs, and Tony Pena Jr. I know that I am truly a blessed man to have married such a wonderful woman!

  5. Trimming the excess threads off the reel seat. It used to be difficult to trim it with a Dremel and keep it square and clean. Then I had an epiphany! Put it on the lathe and cut it with a parting tool. Perfect every time!! Same thing with boring the seat concentric. No problem on the lathe. Getting ready to rough-in the grip. Finished grip & reel seat.

  11. The only way to pull off a Sunday afternoon "quickie " with their 8-year-old son in the apartment was to send him out on the balcony with a Popsicle and tell him to report on all the neighborhood activities... - "There's a car being towed from the parking lot," he shouted. He began his commentary as his parents put their plan into operation: - "An ambulance just drove by!" - "Looks like the Andersons have company," he called out. - "Matt's riding a new bike!" - "Looks like the Sanders are moving!" - "Jason is on his skate board!" After a few moments he announced... - "The Coopers are having sex!" Startled, his mother and dad shot up in bed. Dad cautiously called out..."How do you know they're having sex?" - " Jimmy Cooper is standing on his balcony with a Popsicle." A-Jay

  12. Well almost.. 4 and a half pound 20" donkey kong jr.. he needs food ..badly.. at this time of year he should be heading over 5 The weathers getting cold and I broke out my bigger baits for this season. Donkey Kong (its bigger brother) nailed my 8" swimbait previously and based on the pressure on my swimbait rod it was bigger than this one but the bigger brother was able to use the weight of my swimbait to toss the lure.. kudos to that guy but I wouldve liked very much to land him. However, minutes later felt a light thump and fish on.. as you can see fellow Joisee fishermen, our bass will inhale bigger swimbaits as well as this near 8" bait is barely peeking out of its mouth having inhaled all of it..

  13. Today I went out on a little pond in Norman, Oklahoma that has lots of vegetation in it. I tied on a 1/2 ounce tungsten weight (pegged) with a Mustad 5/0 EWG with a pit boss. Dipped the tails in a little jj's and got after it. I've watched probably every video on YouTube about fishing including ones about punching matted grass for bass. On my 4th cast I felt something that felt a little different than the weight of me punching through the grass. I set the hook and I had a 2 lb fish on. Even though I had then caught a fish on the rig I didn't feel confident in deciphering a bite from grass. I went on to catch three more about the same size, but also set the hook on a lot that were not fish. It sure is a fun way to catch them, but I just need more practice to be able to tell if it's a bite.

  14. Saturday I fished the Lake Quivira fishing club tournament with my buddy Tony. It's a good group of fishermen who all live on the lake which gives them a pretty big advantage. Being an Elite Series pro who lives on the lake probably gives you an even bigger advantage though! When I saw on FB that Brent Chapman was planning on fishing it with his son I knew it was going to be a serious uphill battle. I formulated a game plan the night before that we were going to go up the canals and risk getting way fewer bites in hopes that they would be the right ones. I missed 3 fish and was not having a good start when Tony set the hook on his jig and immediately one of the biggest bass I've seen out there in a long time was on the surface. Grab the net and scooped her up. 19" and 3.52 pounds was the start of our 11lb 1oz limit. I thought we probably finished in the money but couldn't believe when I heard we'd actually won the thing! Not only first place, but Tony's fish was good for big bass as well. He fished one of my home made finesse jigs in black/ gold flake with a Okeechobee craw colored YUM craw papi while I alternated between a home made sapphire blue 1/2oz brush jig with a black and blue Zman Batwingz trailer and a home made black on black bladed jig with a sapphire blue pit boss as a trailer. Getting the win was awesome, catching them all on my baits made it that much better I got to talk to Brent quite a bit afterwords and he was super nice as he is every time I've gotten to chat with him, congratulated us on our win and fielded everyone's questions afterwords. I'm sure if we tried 99 more times he'd get the best of us, but just once we got to say that we got the best of the former AOY and Elite Series angler on his home lake

  15. I ask for my micromanagement to be spelled out in hexadecimal. I'm gonna go out on a limb here, but I'm guessing C&G will not be working in a job where his boss gives him orders in the form of a handwritten list. Just a guess, though. He seems pretty bright.

  20. The rod is done and dry took it out and tested it today on the river. Didn't get it bent but seems like it's going to work pretty good. Last summer I was in search of a new spinning rod and posted a wtb ad for a St.croix 7'0 mlf avid rod. Well a gentleman contacted me and offered me a good price on one and mailed it to me. It was a pre-ipc avid but looked literally unused. I soon fell in love with the Rods power and action and decided I wanted another. So I built a 7'0 mlf sc3 using the new guide concept with ss alconite reduction guides and size 2 rec single foot fly guides and a alconite top. Pictures below are a comparison of the two rods. Except for the first pic my rod is on the right hand side. The new rod will be used for soft plastics while the old one will be for hard baits and trolling. Thanks for looking.

  22. Water Temperature - No problem. Just adjust the water temps and fish accordingly. No problem. Clouds - Good, depending on the amount of cover. No problem. Wind - Need to check out the gusts to make sure you are not trapped by white caps on your favorite body of water. If wind is out of the east you can forget the Virginia tidal rivers as the easterly wind will hold the tide in check. Winds of 10 and below are no problem. Fronts - Bad news if you fish the day after. Will be a tough day after a cold front passes. Not too concerned with a warm front.

  24. Great East was on fire, 3 hours = 21 bass including 3 smallies. Biggest at 3 1/2 pounds They were definitely feeding after all the rain, some close to shore with deep channels near by or major structure like boulders and such under water away from shore. depth ranged from 6ft to 20ft of water. 1/2 oz black strike king Jig with a rage green pumpkin sapphire, green pumpkin tube jig rigged texas and a slow rolling 1/2oz black chatter bait with a natural shad skirt and green with red flake paddle tail. It was cold enough with the wind I had to dig out my save phace mask while running the big motor. 45 degrees +30 mph wind +60 mph boat equals a cold fun day on the water I wouldn't trade it doing any other thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsK3Yf7GrMM&feature=youtu.be Made a quick video of the boat ride to my next spot today.

  25. Just ran a quick analysis using CDC data. Based upon the overwhelming barrage of news stories on ebola, which do you think the news should focus on? Sensationlized Diseases Data: 1999-2013 – people who contracted the disease in the U.S. and subsequently died from it. Virus U.S. Cases Resulting U.S. Deaths West Nile 39,557 1.668 Bird Fle 0 0 SARS 8 0 Ebola 1 0 Car Accidents ???? 33,000 per year That's not to say these aren't terrible and prolific illnesses worldwide. They do need to be addressed and eliminated. But the news hype in the U.S. does not match the actual threat level. Not even close.

  27. Haven't been having a really good time lately, been doing poorly in school, not where I wanna be in sports, having family problems etc etc.. But when I fish that all exits my mind, its like I'm in my own world, not thinking about my next test or the fight I got into with my freind. Went out today and didn't get a nibble but I enjoyed it, been bank fishing more lately because its so peaceful... Lately it feels like I'm just going with the day to day motions but fishing helps get things off your mind so much!

  36. A couple was having dinner one evening when the husband reached across the table, took his wife's hand in his and said, "Beth, soon we will be married 30 years, and there's something I have to know. In all of these 30 years, have you ever been unfaithful to me?" Beth replied, "Well Charles, I have to be honest with you. Yes, I've been unfaithful to you on three occasion's during these 30 years, but always for a good reason." Charles was obviously hurt by his wife's confession, but said, " I never suspected. Can you tell me what you mean by 'good reasons'?" Beth said, "The very first time was shortly after we were married, and we were about to lose our little house because we couldn't pay the mortgage. Do you remember that one evening I went to see the banker and the next day he notified you that the loan would be extended?" Charles recalled the visit to the banker and said, "I can forgive you for that. You saved our home, but what about the second time?" Beth asked, "And do you remember when you were so sick, but we didn't have the money to pay for the heart surgery you needed? Well, I went to see your doctor one night and, if you recall, he did the surgery at no charge." "I recall that," says Chuck. "And you did it to save my life, so of course I can forgive you for that. Now tell me about the third time." "All right," Beth said. "So do you remember when you ran for president of your golf club, and you needed 73 more votes"?"

  37. Caught a bass I lost when I was 16. It hit a roostertail and broke me off on some standing timber. Couple days later hooked a bass on the same color roostertail and when i landed it, my other rootertail was in the other side of it's mouth. When I lost the fish I thought it was much bigger. To my suprise it was only 2lbs, but I swear it when it broke me off it was atleast 5+.

  38. Keep doing it. You found a pattern that works. If the fish hit on something, why change? Don't argue with success.
