  3. sweet little lady decided to host the neighborhood block party in a big way. She wanted to serve her guests mushroom-smothered steak, but she had no mushrooms and no time to buy them. Her husband suggested, "Why don't you go pick some of the mushrooms that are growing wild down by the stream? "No, some wild mushrooms are poisonous." "Well, I see squirrels eating them and they're OK." So she picked a bunch and washed, sliced and sautéed them for her dinner. Then she went out on the back porch and gave Spot, their dog, a double handful. Spot ate every bite. All morning long, she watched the dog. The wild mushrooms hadn't affected him after a few hours, so she decided to use them. The meal was a great success. After everyone had finished, her daughter came in and whispered in her ear, "Mum, Spot is dead." Trying to keep her head about her, she left the room as quickly as possible, called the doctor and told him what had happened. The doctor said, "That's bad, but I think we can take care of it. I'll call for an ambulance and I'll be there as quickly as I can. We'll give everyone enemas and we'll pump out their stomachs and everything will be fine. Just keep them calm." Before long they started to hear the sirens as the ambulance tore down the road. The Paramedics and the doctor had their suitcases, syringes, and stomach pumps. One by one, they took each person into the bathroom, gave them an enema, and pumped out their stomach. After the last one was done the doctor came out and said, "Everything will be okay now," and with that he got into his luxury Maserati and drove away. The hosts and the guests were all weak and bumfuzzled, sitting around the living room, when the daughter came in and said to her mum….. OMG............."I just can't believe that guy!" "What guy?" Mom asked? "Well…….you know. The one who ran over Spot. The sumbitch never even slowed down."

  5. Unless you're fishing a brand new lake - Try This ~ It's all about confidence not "searching". Go to spots that you feel the day, situation,& conditions say you should get bit and fish them with the baits and techniques that you Believe will give you the best chance to meet your expectations (whether that's numbers, size or both). Some days fast moving horizontal presentations will be the deal. Other days more of a vertical technique could be what they seem to want. My records show that at for me, there is No bait or technique that always works. So, I'm willing to adapt to the day. Some times that does mean running & gunning all over the place. But more times than not, sneaking a jig & the trailer of your choice through an area before you beat the water to a froth with a spinnerbait, will get you the bites your looking for. Good Luck A-Jay

  8. Well, this past Saturday was the family reunion of sorts. Mainly a bunch of 2nd, 3rd and 4th cousins (200 ish) on my maternal great grandmothers side that were pretty far removed. Don, however, made the trip from NC down to KY and I was able to finally meet him face to face. We probably spent about 7 hours with him, his caregiver and a couple of his first cousins. Looked through a bunch of old pictures, visited some family graves and made some idle chit chat. He teared up when we first met and then again when I said goodbye. As for me, I can honestly say there were no feelings. Perhaps a slight satisfaction in at least having met the man but certainly no sense of family.

  9. Pretend like your walleye fishing and you'll catch channel cats at hillsdale. I'm not sure if I've ever seen a lm bass caught out there.

  10. Performance wise I haven't seen any significant differences between JDM and USDM products. JDM stuff used to be cool because it was rare and hard to get comparatively. Making JDM versions more readily available should water down the value. Side by side on the same shelf it's harder to justify the price difference.

  17. You can get any number of recommendations as to what lure to use (my vote is a shakey head). Regardless, you need to dead stick it. Cast whatever past the fish, slowly move it within inches of the fish's nose and let it sit there. Wait two minutes and if the her nose is still facing your lure, continue waiting until she takes it. If she turns away, go golfing.

  18. I usually skip jigs under cover or just throw a swim jig. So mostly casting jigs. I also generally fish from the shore as well. I talked to Dobyns today. MAN was I surprised, the wealth of knowledge and just the simple fact that he wanted to talk to me about the rods. I'm leaning towards the DX744 after that convo.

  21. Fished a jig for the first time in 2 or 3 three years on Sunday. I used a 3/8ths jig with a Baby Rage Craw as a trailer. The best advice I can give is watch your line and especially on the fall. I had quite a few bites as soon as the jig hit the water. If you're unsure if it's a bite, set the hook. I don't know how many fish I missed because of this. Ended up catching my biggest fish of the summer this way. My suggestions Brown and Green jig, Black and Blue jig and a pack of Baby Rage Craws.

  23. ...imho. I have been a moon fanatic for years; planning my trips around the moon phases etc... Well this year, the days I have gone (according to the moon's best days) , have all been post front, bluebird skies...and sucked. I mean, I caught fish but just not the usual numbers I typically do on this particular lake. So I saw the forecast for this last Sunday to be stormy, rainy etc...perfect! I called my buddy and we went to said lake and just whacked em. We were out for about 7 hrs in the morning to noon area and boated 67 between the 2 of us; including lost fish we had close to 80. I'm deleting all my bookmarked moon websites... Let me know if I should change my screen name to Captain Obvious.

  28. What you are referring to are not magnetic brakes, they are centrifugal brake tabs. The differences between magnetic and centrifugal brakes are very important to understand as they both operate very differently and effect different parts of the cast. To answer your question, it is fine to have only one centrifugal brake set in the on position.

  29. 1. Smack her in the face with a swimjig (not crank or spinnerbait as she will spook) 2. Downsize and put something in front of her but not too close. Weightless trig or shakey head perhaps.

  31. Stembridge FlipTail worms were packaged in glycerin oil back in the 60's & 70's before salt became popular. You can mix glycerin with pure anise oil and that stores good, good attractant and doesn't stiffen the soft plastic. Tom

  37. I just got my wife into fishing. I wasn't going to forego fishing though. Instead, I gave her some trick worms and showed her how to T-Rig them. She likes purple so she started fishing them and has had some great success. She also had a ton of panfish bite on the worm so she got the feel of what that felt like When I took my kids fishing, it was panfish all the way. Worm and float is the way to go with little ones. However, in your situation I would T-rig a Senko or another type of worm at first. Better yet, give them a couple choices of colors and types. One other thought, I would make sure their set ups are sensitive enough to feel the bites. Nothing can frustrate like inferior equipment.

  40. Are you fishing for lakers right now, at this time of the year? If so, how deep are you looking? Lakers love deeper lake basins, especially those hovering around 90' or more. We've been especially successful this summer deep jigging lakers. We use a regular medium action spinning rod/reel, 10# test PP mainline with a 5' section of 8# test fluorocarbon leader. Lures we've had success with include 3/4 oz. blade baits and 1/2 - 3/4 oz jig heads with 5" fluke style plastics. It's a real hoot to nail a 5 lb. laker that deep on this light gear!

  41. If you think its a bite than stop the bait. If you feel a tick when the bait is stopped, its a bite. If the bait is smaller, the fish will take it in one gulp, so you will have to use feel on that, but with a bigger bait or around lots of smaller bass, they will grab the tail, then take the whole bait, so if you stop it, and feel the tick again, swing for it!

  42. Experience. Really, that's the only way to explain it. Describing the bite will sound exactly like ticking rocks to you. You will know, and when you hook up a few times successfully, it will start to become ingrained in you what the difference is.

  45. What kind of hook are using with your Senkos? You should be able to rig it so that it is very snag free. Try an EWG hook and skin hook the point.

  46. It is like all of these Bass fishermen wearing jerseys (that they pay for) with a boat company's name on it and they don't even get a discount on the boat. Why would a company pay to sponsor an angler when 10,000 anglers promote their brands for free?
