  3. Hey all! This afternoon I went fishing at a nearby pond that has a dock and is pressured heavily everyday by fishermen ( most of them are using bread or corn and are catching crappie, but a good amount of them fish for and catch bass) I went there at 3 30 and fished frogs in the pads for a while, then jigs , then senkos. Then I tried spinnerbaits, Jerkbaits, senkos and crankbaits in the open water. I tried swimbaits and finesse worms yet the fish just would not bite! a couple other fishermen were there and were having the same bad luck. Then at 8:00 I tie on a motor oil with red flake color senko , weightless . I cast out into open water but next to the edge of the lily pads. I feel a big thump on my line and set the hook. Fish fought for a couple minutes, great fish. Landed him and he was 20 in long, 3 lb 12 oz. skinny fish but very nice! Persistence pays off!! Booyah!!!! Photo : http://imgur.com/8ukJ5CI

  4. Fished Table Rock this past weekend. Caught numbers in the 30s. All spots. Near Baxter. Drop shot in 45 foot of water. Fish suspended in trees at 25'. Tough fishing, but we got on 'em, and stayed on 'em.

  6. It's Murphy's law. Fishing and hunting are probably the best examples of it...when you aren't prepared to set the hook, a fish slams it, a big fish always knows to eat anything attached to 6lb test or lighter, when you aren't ready to shoot, a wood duck will come straight over your head at 10,000 miles per hour, go deer hunting, and the squirrels are everywhere, go grab a .22 and the squirrels will vanish but that 12 point will walk right up to you, if there is a single twig in the way when taking a shot, your arrow or bullet WILL find it. The list goes on and on.

  7. Went out tonight and only managed to get one dink within the first couple hours. Decided to stay after dark anyway to see if the bite turned on and managed to hook into this chunker fishing a black jitterbug. Of course being by myself I had a hard time getting a descent picture to show its size & I turn on my scale to weigh her and my batteries are starting to die. Anyways she measured 21" and it's going to bug me not knowing how much she weighed as it may have been my PB.

  9. One Theory: The three colors used - bright green, yellow and orange can be seen in deep water, off-colored water or low light conditions where there is diminished light penetration, these colors will be seen better. And yes, pan fish and perch colors. Who the H311 knows what it's supposed to look like or how it is seen under water, fish it, catch some fish on it, gain some confidence in that color, order a couple/three hundred more of them and keep the darn bait monkey off your back!

  16. Based on nationwide statistics, no place on earth produces more 10-pound bass than Florida, USA. This should come as no surprise, as Florida is the home of Florida-stain largemouth bass Florida has additionally yielded its fair share of world-class bass over 17.5 pounds, but unfortunately, the state's biggest obstacle is 'bureaucracy'. Florida's heaviest bass on record are documented & certified by the "IGFA", "Field & Stream", “International Spin Fishing Association" and others, but not by the state. Listed below are certified bass taken in Florida that are not recognized by the state (up to 2011): 1) 20-lb 2-oz - Big Fish Lake - May 1923 - Fritz Friebel (fully documented but not FL certified) 2) 19-lb 15-oz - Keystone Lake - 1927 - R. E. Lucas 3) 19-lb 11-oz (29" L x 23.25" G) - Stick Marsh - Jul 1994 - Doug Thompson 4) 19-lb 8-oz (29” L 23” G) – Stick Marsh – May 1994 – Ed Johnson 5) 19-lb 4-oz – Taylor Creek Reservoir – Jun 1974 – Phil Jay 6) 19-lb 0-oz (31”L) – Lake Tarpon – Jun 1961 – Riley Witt (former Florida state record) 7) 18-lb 13-oz (29.5”L x 26.5”G) St Johns River - Apr 1987 - Buddy Wright (fully documented & certified) 8) 18-lb 8-oz – Orange Grove Lake – Jan 2008 – Jeffrey Smith 9) 18-lb 4-oz – St. Johns River – Dec 1948 - J.W. Smith 10) 18-lb 2-oz – Taylor Creek Reservoir - Jun 1974 – Phil Jay 10) 18-lb 2-oz – Lake Brooklyn – Mar 1966 – Hugh Paul 11) 18-lb 1-oz – Stick Marsh – Apr 1994 – Robert Bloom 12) 18-lb 0-oz – Orange Grove Lake – Steve Smith (IGFA documented) 12) 18-lb 0-oz (30”L) – Tucker Lake – 1964 – L.L. Petty 12) 18-lb 0-oz – Lake George (St Johns River) – May 1958 – Marlin Coston 12) 18-lb 0-oz – Ashley Lake – Mar 1951 – Carl Swisher 13) 17-lb 15-oz – Undisclosed waters – Mar 1988 – Donald Brunson 14) 17-lb 12-oz – West Lake Tohopekaliga (West Toho) – Jul 1986 – John Faircloth 15) 17-lb 9-oz – Lake George (St. Johns River) – Babette Morgan 16) 17-lb 8-oz (28”Lx25”G) Lake Rose – 1985 – Mike Paule 16) 17-lb 8-oz (28”Lx25”G) Hurricane Lake – Mar 1983 – Robert Earl 16) 17-lb 8-oz – Lake George (St. Johns River) – Justin Morgan Under a weight of 17-1/2 pounds, the entries are piled up at every ounce, far too numerous to bother listing. Owning up to feeble recordkeeping, the state of Florida finally incepted a Hall-of-Fame Club (13-lb+ only), now in its 2nd year. This year, Joe Morrell submitted two "state certified" teeners, a 13-lb 12-oz & 14-lb 9-oz. Be reminded that for every 13-3/4 lb bass landed in Florida, there are thousands of double-digit bass. This isn't the case anywhere else, where catching a double-digit bass is like watching paint dry or grass grow. The future of Florida-strain transplants is speculative, but the Florida-strain bass in Florida are forever. http://m.myfwc.com/news/news-releases/2014/march/11/trophycatch/ Roger

  28. I will bring the pipe fitter also. He might want in on this action. Dignity means many things. The way I meant it as self respect. Plus you should not be talking. You are a Bears fan. I am also using spell checker. You should see my rough drafts before I use spell check. Thanks to my learning disabilities, and my giant hands with a small keyboard. Almost every other word has the red line under it. Before you think I am mad at you. How could I be mad at you? Any way thanks for the laugh. So I miss spelled a few words. Oh no shoot the dumb machinist.

I don't believe bigfoot is bald headed with hairless arms either. Don't worry redline me and my Wisconsin buddy will come run through the woods by your house. I'll even wear a jock strap.

  36. Um, did anyone think to do this at night when all the little bas#@$ds are sleeping. It's just like wasps, you can't attack the nest in the day because there will always be wasps out roaming for food. Foggers work great, just like a grenade, set it off and toss it into the bush (AT NIGHT). Or use some of that high dollar wasp and hornet spray but do it in the dark when they are sleeping. Or you can do like everyone else said, hire someone.

  38. Get some "SEVEN DUST" if you can't find the dust the liquid works but the dust is better. SEVEN is the most deadly thing there is for bee's. I have been where you are. The County Extension agent is who put me on it. The dust will stick to their feet and legs so before they die when they go back to the nest they track it in and then infest the rest. Trust me worked better than hornet spray bug be gone!! Good Luck with them little suckers!

  39. Jar11591, same here on the smallies. I was up there at the end of July for years (not this year), did well the first year and made reservations to go back the same time the following year before we left. The second year was insane fishing every day the whole week. We would fish from smallies during the day then go for some crappie the last hour or so of light so we could have a fish fry. Love the place, now that college is done I am trying to go back up next year.

  41. New guy here and I blame my good pal and fishing buddy, conorsixtakc. I'm a dedicated Walleye guy by default coming from Wisconsin, but enjoy nothing more than tussling with Bronzebacks, and now Largemouth. I fish Clinton almost everyday living in Lawrence, always targeting Walleye & Wiper, but have caught both really nice Largies and Smallies. Last year and early this season I had some super good trips to Coffee County and Melvern. Love those Brownies. On Friday Clinton was a little too rough for me to want to deal with, so I took a buddy from TX out to Lone Star on a whim to see if I could get him on some fish. Took me a little to get used to finesse fishing again, but it didn't take long before I was having a blast. My personal best came right as the sun went down. Man that was fun. Here's a little GoPro vid I put together from that evening. Yes, I did get a little excited once I saw that toad jump, my apologies haha. Took the same buddy and conorsixtakc the following morning. Lots of dinks and the bite died by 11. Still a super fun little lake to get away to out here in Lawrence. Can't wait to try Perry soon. Lone Star PB: 5 lbs. 6 oz. - Texas rigged Havoc craw Included a few photos from Clinton this season (for street cred purposes) Squarebill on the dam - GoPro vid Jig and minnow during the Crappie spawn. Caught 2 Largemouth and 5 Smallies in the same week, all while Crappie fishing.

  42. first i'd say that if he's a "president" or whatever of an "association" there are likely rules, laws, bi-laws whatever you want to call them. but rather than trying to play any enforcement games, just talk to the guy and mention your concern over the pollution. you might also suggest them placing a couple of trash cans in prime locations to at least provide a place to dispose of the trash? you might also ask how you could "join the board" or whatever so that you can help to preserve the integrity of the lake. At least that way you have a "say in the matter" going forward..... i'd say most importantly in the interest of keeping it friendly, approach it like a discussion rather than an allegation of wrong doing....

  43. I've had it happen several times with bluegills, crappie, and smaller bass. Best solution I've found is to start fishing swimbaits that mimic whatever fish it was that the big bass was trying to eat

  47. Can I ask why you want a SINK instead of a SOT? From what you are describing i would think a SOT would better suit your needs. I am not familiar with all of the SINKs out there so i cannot recommend one boat over another

  48. Dont know if you bought one yet but have you looked at the bps stalker bag?? The red backpack. Just got it a couple months ago. Used to use a shoulder strap bag. So its taking time to get use to the backback idea. Has alot of storage for me. I like it. Have to get better organizing skills. Haha
